St. Norbert In Contention After First Day

RIPON - St. Norbert College is just five points out of first place after the first day of the Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship at Ripon College's Willmore Center.

The Green Knights totaled 53 points through seven events, trailing Monmouth College's 58 points. Cornell College is in third place with 44 points.

St. Norbert athletes won two conference title on the first day of action.

Nic Greenlaw, Sam Stelloh, Samuel Fletcher and Andrew LeMay won 1,600-meter sprint medley with a time of 3:37.60, nipping Monmouth College's time of 3:37.62. Dominic DiBenedetto won the shot put championship with a toss of 51 feet 4 1/2 inches.

Jon Gregory, Greenlaw, Stelloh and Adam Weigman were second in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:30.69.

Matt Holloway was fourth in the 1-mile run in 4:29.65, while Ben Behling was seventh 4:32.67 and Matthew McKendry placed eighth 4:33.21. Ryan Priebe and Noah Kleiman tied for fourth in the high jump at 6-0 1/2. Tyler Lemens was fourth in the long jump at 21-9 1/2.

Eric Herman was seventh in the shot put at 41-9 3/4 and Anthony Rieder was eighth at 40-4 1/4.
