Big Inning Lifts St. Norbert to Split

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - St. Norbert College had a five-running inning to snap a tie and went on to beat Skidmore College 8-3 in the second game of the day at the Sunkissed Games. The Green Knights dropped an 11-4 decision to No. 19-ranked Ithaca College earlier in the day,.

The Green Knights entered the sixth inning tied 3-3 before scoring five runs on three hits and aided by three Skidmore errors. Pinch-runner Whitney Baumann scored on an error. Carley Frauenhoff followed with a two-run single for a 6-3 lead. Lexy Campshure then drove in a run with a single, while Alyssa Sikora's drew a bases-loaded walk to cap the uprising.

St. Norbert got a run in the second inning when Ashley Zimmerman's grounder brought in a run. Skidmore scored three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead, but the Green Knights tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the third on a two-run single by Amanda Diedrich.

Campshure was 3-for-4, while Diedrich was 2-for-4.

Sydney Pfotenhauer got the win, scattering eight hits with one walk and one strikeout.

Against Ithaca, St. Norbert scored two runs in each of the first two innings but couldn't hold off the Bombers' 16-hit attack.

Diedrich stroked a two-run home run in the first inning for a 2-0 lead. Ithaca scored three runs in the top of the second, but St. Norbert would score two more on a two-run home run by Zimmerman for a 4-3 edge. Ithaca would respond with six runs in the third inning and one run in each of the fourth and seventh innings.

Frauenhoff and Leigh Grall were both 2-for-3.

Emma Molenhouse took the loss, allowing five runs in two innings.
