Klavekoske, Braspennickx Lead Green Knights to Sweep

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College rode its starting pitching to a doubleheader sweep of Worcester State University by scores of 6-0 and 15-1 at Lake Myrtle Complex.

Nick Klavekoske twirled a two-hit shutout in the opener, walking one and striking out seven. Bryce Braspennickx worked six inning in the nightcap, yielding one run on three hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

St. Norbert (7-3) scored six runs on just three hits in the opener. Sean Ferraro scored on a wild pitch and Sean Grant drove in a run on a groundout in the first inning for a 2-0 lead. Ferraro then had an RBI groundout in the second inning to add a run to the lead. St. Norbert scored three runs without the benefit of a hit in the fifth inning. Tyler Banovich drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk, while Grant was hit by a pitch with the bases full. Brett Reinhart then brought home a run with a sacrifice fly.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Banovich RBI single. The Green Knights broke the game open with eight runs on three hits in the third inning. Banovich and Grant each had run-scoring singles. St. Norbert was assisted in the inning by three Worcester State errors.

Reinhart had an RBI single in the fourth inning. Connor Yakel had a run-scoring double and Danny Stewart a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Michael Larsen closed out the scoring with a two-run single in the seventh.

Griffin Jack was 3-for-5 with three doubles and three runs scored. Banovich was 2-for-3 for the Green Knights, who had 11 hits in the game.
