St. Norbert Romps To Win Over Eastern Connecticut

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College closed out its 11-game trip to Florida to open the 2018 seasons with a resounding 16-6 win over Eastern Connecticut State University.
The Green Knights closed their trip 8-3, finishing with a six-game winning streak.
St. Norbert wasted little time getting on the scoreboard with a five-run first inning. Sean Grant and Jacob Raeder had run-scoring singles, while Robbie Dombrowski and Brett Reinhart were both hit by pitches to drive in runs. Andy Peterik drew a bases-loaded walk to give the Green Knights a 5-0 lead.
Eastern Connecticut would score a run in the top of the third, but the Green Knights would get it back on a two-out single by Sean Ferraro to score Reinhart. The Warriors would tie the game 6-6 with five runs on six hits in the top of the fifth inning.
St. Norbert would take the lead for good with a run in the fifth inning, when Dombrowski scored on Ferraro's sacrifice fly. The Green Knights broke the game open with seven runs in the sixth inning. Dombrowski had a two-run single, while Ferraro drew a bases-loaded walk. Lucas Reynolds followed with a two-run double, while Tyler Banovich plated a run with a triple for a 14-6 lead.
The Green Knights invoked the 10-run rule with two runs in the eighth inning on RBI singles from Banovich and Grant.
St. Norbert finished with 14 hits. Banovich was 3-for-5, while Ferraro was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBI. Reynolds, Grant, Dombrowski and Reinhart also had two hits apiece.
Bryce Te Kulve was credited with the win in two innings of relief.
