St. Norbert Salvages Split With Carthage

DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored in the bottom of the seventh inning of the second game to split a non-conference doubleheader against Carthage College at Miron Construction Field. The Green Knights won the nightcap 2-1 after dropping the opener 7-2.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, pinch-hitter Morgan Moxon doubled. A groundout advanced pinch-runner Whitney Baumann to second. Brianna Braeger then singled with two outs to bring Baumann around with the winning run.

St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead in the first inning Braeger scored on a two-out fielding error. The Lady Reds got the run back with a single run in the fifth inning.

Braeger was 3-for-4 to lead the Green Knights offensively. Emma Molenhouse got the win, scattering nine hits with one walk and five strikeouts in a complete-game effort.

In the opener, Carthage scored five runs in the fourth inning and single runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings. The Green Knights scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning and left the bases loaded. Sarah Koltermann drove in a run with a single and Leigh Grall brought in a run on a fielder's choice grounder.

Sydney Pfotenhauer took the loss, allowing nine hits and five runs in 3 2/3 innings with one walk and three strikeouts.
