Scherer Sets 3K School Record at Northern Challenge

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Jenny Scherer collected her first indoor track school record, setting a new St. Norbert College standard in the 3,000-meter run while competing at the Northern Challenge hosted at Northern Michigan University's Superior Dome.
The unscored meet featured a gathering of NCAA Division II and Division III schools.
Scherer ran the 3K in a time of 10:28.49, narrowly eclipsing Julie Deyo's record of 10:28.61 set in 2003. Scherer's run was the best in the field by nearly 16 seconds. Scherer also won the 1-mile run championship, running in a time of 5:20.28.
St. Norbert's 4x400-meter relay team won the meet championship. The foursome of Marisa Trakanovich, Nikki Swanson, Ashley Graybill and Katie Meyer finished with a time of 4:05.01, winning by just over six seconds. The group also placed second in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:48.07.
Graybill finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.80 seconds, while Trakanovich was tied for fifth in the 200 with a time of 27.60. Trakanovich was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.95 seconds.
Anne Mueller, Graybill and Swanson placed third, fifth and seventh, respectively with times of 7.81, 7.87 and 7.94 seconds in the 55-meter dash.
Danielle Krause (2.44 meters), Lindsey Novitzke (2.29) and Kayla Franklin (2.29) were fourth, sixth and seventh, respectively, in the pole vault.
Kelsey Timm was fifth in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:32.19. Meyer was sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.64, while Megan Domnick was eighth in 1:04.82. Swanson was sixth in the long jump at 4.66 meters. Kelsey Marsh added an eighth-place finish in the weight throw at 11.57 meters.
