Green Knights Close Out Regular Season, Eke Past Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College wrapped up its 2008-09 regular season with a 4-3 win over Lake Forest College in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association contest at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.

The Green Knights are 17-7-1 overall and 8-5-1 in the NCHA, while Lake Forest dropped to 5-18-2, 0-13-1. St. Norbert topped Lake Forest 9-0 at home on Jan. 17.

St. Norbert and Lake Forest ended the first period tied at 2-2. The Foresters drew first blood when Sean Farley scored at 4:18 of the first period. It took St. Norbert's Scott Pulak just 15 seconds to tie the score with his fifth goal of the season. Nick Tabisz gave St. Norbert a 2-1 lead at 6:19 of the period, his eighth marker of the year, off an assist from Alain Joanette. The Foresters' Chris Wilson scored at 17:17 to re-tie the score.

The Green Knights scored twice in the second period while holding the Foresters at bay. Dustin Dubas scored his second goal of the season at 11:32, while Shane Wheeler scored for the 10th time this year with a goal at 18:33.

Lake Forest pulled to within one on Adam Love's ninth goal of the year at 10:17 of the third, but the Foresters could not draw even. Lake Forest had just 10 seconds of empty net time near the end of the game.

St. Norbert held a commanding 43-15 shots on goal advantage. The Green Knights were 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Foresters were 0-for-5.

B.J. O'Brien made 12 saves for St. Norbert. Scott Campbell made 21 saves to take the loss for the Foresters, while Brandon Kohuch worked the first 29:51 and made 18 saves.

St. Norbert will face long-time rival UW-Stevens Point in NCHA Peters Cup Quarterfinal Series Feb. 20-21 at the Cornerstone Community Center. Both games in the best-of-two series start at 7 p.m.
