St. Norbert Falls to Millikin, Kean

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - St. Norbert College's offense sputtered for the second consecutive day with a 2-1 loss to Millikin University and a 5-2 loss to Kean University at the Rebel Games.

St. Norbert (0-4) took a 1-0 lead against Millikin when Alyssa McGray singled in Brieanne Oehlke. Oehlke led off the inning being hit by a pitch and then stole second. After two strikeouts, McGray drove Oehlke in.

Millikin tied the game in the fourth. The Big Blue then won the game on Whitney Schafman's two-out double in the bottom of the seventh.

Stephanie Ortiz led St. Norbert against Millkin, going 2-for-2. Jessica Kropp took the loss, allowing four hits in 3.1 innings with two walks. Kristina Bechtold picked up the win for Millikin with a four-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts.

Against Kean, St. Norbert took a 2-1 lead after scoring twice in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kim Sawyer and Oehlke had RBI singles in the fifth to put the Green Knights ahead. Kean answered with two runs in the top of the sixth and then put the game away on a two-run home run by Jesse Buchanan in the top of the seventh.

St. Norbert, which left seven runners on base against Kean, saw Ortiz and Oehlke both go 2-for-3 and Sawyer 2-for-4. Kayla Krueger took the loss with nine hits allowed in 6.2 innings with no walks and six stirkeouts. Cassie Shotwell picked up the win for Kean, scattering eight hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

The Green Knights will face Montclair State University and Hope College Wednesday at the Rebel Games.
