Women's Cagers Tumble at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. - The St. Norbert College women's basketball team suffered its first Midwest Conference loss of the season with a 70-59 setback to Monmouth College at Glennie Gym. The Green Knights fall to 11-4, 7-1. Monmouth improved to 9-7, 5-4.

Monmouth had control most of the game, taking a 31-23 lead into halftime. St. Norbert would get to within six points twice late in the game, trailing 54-48 with 3:52 left and 57-51 with 3:16 to go, but would get no closer.

The host Scots held a big advantage at the free-throw line, making 21 of 27 charity tosses. St. Norbert was just 8-for-13.

St. Norbert, which shot 41.1 percent from the field, was led in scoring by Morgan Strasser's 18 points. Denise Heuser and Emily Otzelberger each had seven points for the Green Knights.

Monmouth, which outrebounded St. Norbert 42-28, was led by 20 points from Melissa Gorski. Ashley Yeast added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Scots.
