Scherer's Steeplechase Win Leads St. Norbert at Wiscosnin Open

MADISON - Jenny Scherer provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the St. Norbert College contingent at the University of Wisconsin Open at the McClimon Complex.

Scherer's time of 11 minutes 6.47 seconds won the event, and topped runner-up Kared Greuel of Wisconsin by almost 4 1/2 seconds.

Anne Mueller was third in the 100-meter hurdles and fourth in the 100-meter dash. Mueller ran a time of 16.92 seconds in the hurdles, and sprinted 13.36 in the dash. Hope Kovala added a fourth-place finish in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.86 seconds.

Ashley Graybill finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.29 seconds. Danielle Krause added a second-place showing in the pole vault, clearing a height of 8 feet, 10 1/4 inches. Nikki Swanson also finished second in an event with her leap of 16-5 1/4 in the long jump.

The 4x400-meter relay team won with a time of 4:00.60. The 4x100-meter relay was third with a time of 50.83 seconds.
