KENOSHA - St. Norbert College made its two-goal lead hold up as the Green Knights topped Viterbo University by a 2-1 score at the Carthage College Battle on the Border.
After a scoreless first half, St. Norbert scored the game's first two goals. Nick Hren scored off an Adam Sanchez assist at 62:50 to put the Green Knights ahead. Eric Natwick then followed off another Sanchez helper, this goal coming at 75:53, for a 2-0 advantage. Viterbo would halve the deficit with 5:30 left to play on a James Lockley penalty kick but would get no closer.
Viterbo outshot St. Norbert 14-12 and also held a 9-8 advantage in corner kicks. St. Norbert goalkeeper Joe Schwartz came up big with 11 saves, including seven in the first half.
St. Norbert, 3-0 on the season, returns to action at Noon Saturday, Sept. 12 against St. Mary's University at the Minahan Stadium Complex.
