Vanden Avond's Overtime Game-Winner Gives St. Norbert Big MWC Win

BELOIT - St. Norbert College senior Ben Vanden Avond scored both goals as the Green Knights defeated Beloit College 2-1 in double overtime in a Midwest Conference game at Strong Complex Field.

Vanden Avond scored his fourth game-winning goal this season at the 100 minute 53 seconds mark, or nearly one minute into the second overtime. Vanden Avond, who has a team-high five goals on the season, scored the Green Knights' first marker at 39:24 of the match on a penalty kick.

Bo Wilkins tied the match for Beloit at 1-1 at 64:42 when a direct kick found its way into the net.

The Green Knights improved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the MWC with the win, while Beloit fell to 4-2-2, 1-1-1.

Joe Schwartz made four saves for St. Norbert, while Nathan Lipps made seven stops for Beloit. St. Norbert held a slim 15-14 shots advantage, while Beloit had the penalty kicks edge 7-6.
