Green Knights Fall to Beloit, Grinnell

BELOIT - St. Norbert College dropped a pair of dual matches, falling 7-2 in a Midwest Conference match to Beloit College and 5-4 to Grinnell College in a non-conference meeting at Strong Complex.

St. Norbert's loss to Beloit gives the Buccaneers the Midwest Conference North Division title. The Green Knights (5-7, 2-1 MWC) need to beat Lawrence on Oct. 9 to clinch a berth in the MWC Team Championship Tournament.

Maria Slusarek and Kristyn Klind topped Julia Win and Ashley Miglin 9-8 (8-6) for St. Norbert's lone doubles point at No. 3 against Beloit. Callie Schroeder beat Emeline Beck 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 10-7 at No. 5 singles for the Green Knights lone win in singles play.

St. Norbert picked up two doubles points against Grinnell. Lauren Post and Kelly Van Handel beat Toby Cain and Tatyana Sukharnikova 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Slusarek and Klind beat Jill Akiyama and Kelsey Picken 8-6 at No. 3.

Post and Van Handel picked up St. Norbert's lone singles points. Post beat Cain 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1, and Van Handel beat Akiyama 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 at No. 2.
