St. Norbert Unleashes Offense to Rout Knox

DE PERE - St. Norbert College had its highest-scoring game in six years with a 9-0 win over Knox College in a Midwest Conference men's soccer game at the Minahan Stadium Complex.

The Green Knights (8-3, 3-1 MWC) last put up at least nine goals in a 10-2 win over Knox on Oct. 4, 2003 in De Pere.

St. Norbert scraped to a 3-0 halftime lead. Ben Vanden Avond got things started with a score 9 minutes 23 seconds into the match. Mark Burmesch then scored twice in the half for his first two goals of the season.

The Green Knights received goals from Nick Hren and Vanden Avond in the first 5:07 of the second half and 5-0 lead. Nate Watermolen and Mark Jasso both scored two goals to round out the St. Norbert scoring. Nick Anderson had three assists for the Green Knights.

St. Norbert outshot Knox by a 27-1 margin. Joe Schwartz, Nolan Picchietti and Brad Hammer combined for the shutout and did not have to make a save. Max Miller made eight stops for the Prairie Fire.
