Sanchez's Second-Half Goal Difference in Win Over Lawrence

APPLETON - Adam Sanchez scored early in the second half to lift St. Norbert College to a 2-1 Midwest Conference win over Lawrence University at the Alexander Gym Complex.

St. Norbert improved to 11-4 overall and 6-2 in the MWC, while Lawrence dropped to 3-8-5, 1-3-5.

Sanchez scored off a Ben Vanden Avond assist at 47 minutes 15 seconds to snap a 1-1 tie. It was Sanchez's sixth goal of the season.

The Green Knights struck first when Greg Schmidt scored his first goal of the season, with Vanden Avond getting the assist, at 8:40. Lawrence tied it moments later at 12:53 when Simon Newsom scored his second goal of the season.

St. Norbert outshot Lawrence 24-10 and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Lawrence goalkeeper Andrew Finley kept the Vikings in the game with 13 saves, while Joe Schwartz made four saves for St. Norbert.
