Green Knights Fall to UW-Green Bay in Exhibition Contest

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College dropped its only exhibition contest of the 2009-10 women's basketball season with a 78-47 setback to NCAA Division I power UW-Green Bay at the Kress Events Center.

St. Norbert fell behind 23-5 just over 8 minutes into the game on a 3-pointer by the Phoenix's Adrian Ritchie, but St. Norbert went on a quick 7-0 run to pull within 23-12 with 8:40 left before halftime. Denise Heuser canned a pair of 3-pointers during the Green Knights' run. Green Bay took a 41-21 halftime lead before pushing its lead to 57-27 with 11:53 left in the game.

St. Norbert did hold the Phoenix to 47 percent shooting from the floor. Green Bay, which had Division I's top scoring defense last season en route to a 29-4 season, held the Green Knights to 37.5 percent shooting from the floor.

Heuser was the only St. Norbert player to score in double figures at 14 points. Stefanie Bunday had eight points, while Jamie Kuhl had six points.

Julie Wojta led Green Bay with 19 points, while Breannah Ranger added 11 points and Celeste Hoewisch had 10. Green Bay had a 37-29 rebounding edge.
