Green Knights Shutout in MWC Tournament Finale

WAUKESHA - St. Norbert College fell short of its from NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament appearance at the hands of Carroll University for the second consecutive year with a 2-0 loss in the title game of the Midwest Conference Tournament at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights, who lost to Carroll in the tournament championship last year 4-2, finished their season 11-9. Carroll improved to 17-2-1.

Carroll took a 1-0 halftime lead when Cody Callender scored unassisted at 42 minutes 54 seconds. The goal held up until the Pioneers' Amanda Leach scored an insurance goal with 10:10 left in the match.

The Pioneers held a 14-6 shots advantage and also held a commanding 9-2 edge in corner kicks. St. Norbert was whistled for 20 fouls to the Pioneers' 10.

Cara Tazioli made 10 saves for St. Norbert, while Ashlee Reinke made five saves to pitch the shutout for the Pioneers.
