Scherer Qualifies for NCAA Division III National Meet For Third Consecutive Year

WINNECONNE - St. Norbert College's Jenny Scherer qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship for the third consecutive year with a third-place showing at the Midwest Regional held at Lake Breeze Golf Course.

Scherer, who earned All-America honors in 2008 with a seventh-place showing, covered the 6-kilometer course in an impressive 21 minutes 31 seconds for her third-place finish. UW-Oshkosh's Ayla Mitchell won the event with a time of 20:51, while Washington University's Taryn Surtees was second at 21:06.

St. Norbert finished in 14th place with a team total of 404 points. UW-Eau Claire won the event with 52 points, while Washington was the runner up with 72 points. UW-La Crosse was third with 98 points.

Amanda Whipple placed second for St. Norbert, finishing 45th overall with a time of 23:03. Kim Keil placed in 110th place with a time of 24:19, while Brianna Skrypczak was 112th in 24:23. Erika Quinn rounded out St. Norbert's scorers with a run of 24:47 to finish 134th.

Kali Reierson finished 147th in 25:11, and Melissa Menne was 212nd with a time of 27:06.
