DULUTH, Minn. - A pair of third-period goals was all St. Norbert College could muster but it would be enough to post a 2-1 win over Lawrence University on the first night of the Western Thanksgiving Showcase at Mars Lakeview Arena.

St. Norbert, ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com poll, improved to 9-0-1 on the season. Lawrence, which was receiving votes in the USCHO.com poll, fell to 6-2.

St. Norbert was unable to Lawrence goaltender Evan Johnson in the first two periods, as he made 30 saves and helped kill off four St. Norbert power plays in the first 40 minutes of action.

The Green Knights would respond right away in the third period, when Kyle Stroh scored his first collegiate goal just 42 seconds into the frame. Tyler Allen followed with his fourth goal of the year when he lifted the puck past Johnson at the 2:27 mark.

Lawrence would pull to within 2-1 when Ben DiMarco scored his ninth goal of the year at 6:02. The Green Knights would not score on a power play midway through the third, and would hold off Lawrence's last ditch attack which had an empty net for 41 seconds.

B.J. O'Brien made 20 saves for St. Norbert, while Johnson finished with a total of 37 in 59:19. The Green Knights, who outshot the Vikings 39-21, were 0-for-5 overall on the power play. Lawrence was 0-for-2 with the extra man.
