Green Knights Get Back on Track at Monmouth

MONMOUTH, Ill. - St. Norbert College rebounded from its first loss of the season with a convincing 77-44 win over Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference game at Glennie Gym.

The Green Knights (5-1, 1-1 MWC) , ranked No. 20 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, bounced back from a one-point loss at Lake Forest College less than 24 hours earlier. Monmouth fell to 3-3, 0-2.

St. Norbert started slowly, trailing 15-10 7 1/2 minutes into the game. Following a 19-19 tie, Krista Pelky's jumper with 8:13 left in the first half gave St. Norbert a 21-19 lead, and the Green knights would not trail again.

After building a 36-25 halftime lead, the Green Knights opened the second half on a 14-2 run to push ahead 50-27 after consecutive 3-pointers from Denise Heuser and Krista Hawkinson. St. Norbert would lead by as many as 35 points late in the game.

St. Norbert, which had just one player play more than 20 minutes, shot a robust 53.7 percent from the floor, canning 29 of 54 shots. The Green Knights were 5-for-17 (29.4 percent) on 3-pointers and were 14-for-18 (77.8 percent) at the free throw line. St. Norbert, which held a 39-31 rebouding edge, got a team-high 11 points from Heuser and Bri Hauge. Hauge, who tied a career scoring high, was 3-for-3 from beyond the three-point arc. Emily Otzelberger added10 points.

Monmouth shot 32.2 percent (19-for-59) from the floor, including 22.6 percent (7-for-31) in the second half. Alison Andrews led the Scots with 14 points.
