St. Norbert Falls Apart Against Knox

DE PERE - The St. Norbert College men's basketball team made just three field goals in the second half en route to a costly 65-59 loss to Knox College at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights fell to 11-8 overall and 7-5 in the Midwest Conference. Knox improved to 7-12, 6-6.

St. Norbert led 38-25 at halftime and led by as big as 36-18 with with 2:53 left before intermission. But St. Norbert would go cold in the second half, making just 3 of 20 shots in getting outscored 40-21.

Still, St. Norbert had its chances to win, leading 53-40 with 9:15 left thanks to making its first 12 free throws of the second half. St. Norbert did not make a field goal after Mike Dowden's jumper with 6:39 left put the Green Knights ahead 55-47.

The game was tied at 59-59 with 1:34 left after Tom Katzfey made 1 of 2 free throws. But Knox's Clint Moore hit a 3-pointer with 1:11 left to seal the win and give Knox a season sweep over St. Norbert

Grant Kluge led Knox with 20 points, while Moore and Adam Estergard had 12 points apiece. Knox made 12 of 22 three-point attempts and shot 44.7 percent from the floor for the game.

St. Norbert was led by Bryan Fleischmann's 20 points, but the Green Knights would not have another player in double figures. St. Norbert was 17-for-46 from the floor for the game and was 7-for-23 on 3-pointers.
