Defense Stays Strong as St. Norbert Tops Lawrence

APPLETON - St. Norbert College's defense did the job again as the Green Knights rolled to a 67-34 win over Lawrence University in a Midwest Conference game at Alexander Gym.

The Green Knights (14-3, 9-2 MWC) put forth their best defensive effort of the season in holding down the Vikings (2-15, 0-11). St. Norbert held UW-La Crosse to 35 points in a 54-35 win on Nov. 21. The Green Knights, ranked 12th in Division III in scoring defense entering the game, lowered their defensive average to 50.5 points per game.

Lawrence held a 7-4 lead four minutes into the game until St. Norbert went on a 30-3 run over the next 12 minutes to take a 34-10 lead with 3:37 left in the first half. St. Norbert led 36-17 at halftime, and held a 35-point lead at one point in the second.

St. Norbert shot 46 percent from the floor, making 29 of 63 shots. Emily Otzelberger led the Green Knights with 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Rachel Hermus had seven points and 11 rebounds, while Denise Heuser added nine points.

The Vikings shot 25.5 percent from the floor, making 12 of 47 shots. Laura Aerts led the Vikings with 13 points.
