DE PERE - A balanced scoring effort and yet another solid defensive showing led St. Norbert College to a 78-52 win over Monmouth College in a Midwest Conference game at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, ranked ninth by D3hoops.com, won their tenth-straight game in improving to 18-1 overall and 12-0 in the MWC. Monmouth fell to 5-14, 4-8.

St. Norbert never trailed, and the game was tied just once at 2-2. The Green Knights led 17-15 with 7 minutes 56 seconds left in the first half before going on an 11-2 run over the next three minutes to lead 28-17. John Taylor's 3-pointer got the run started. Chris Peterson had a layup and free throw, Taylor another 3-pointer and Paul Mallers a 17-foot jumper to complete the run. The Green Knights settled on a 36-24 lead at halftime.

Monmouth pulled to within 12 again at 45-33 with 15:55 left, but Peterson's 3-pointer started a quick 7-0 run, which was finished off by a Dave Wipperfurth basket and another Taylor 3. The Scots wouldn't get closer than 18 points the rest of the game.

Four of St. Norbert's five starters reached double-digit scoring. Taylor finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Peterson added 13 points, Wipperfurth 11 and Steve Papke 10.
