Green Knights Put the Clamps on Again to Beat Lake Forest

DE PERE - St. Norbert College held Lake Forest College to 25 points under its season average to post a 64-47 win in a key Midwest Conference game at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights moved into second place with the win at 11-2 in the league and 16-3 overall. The Foresters dropped to 14-6, 10-3 in the MWC.

St. Norbert shot a blistering 80 percent in the second half, making 12 of 15 shots, to break open a 29-21 halftime lead. The Green Knights opened the first 7 1/2 minutes on an 18-5 run to grab a 47-26 advantage with 12:39 left on a Denise Heuser conventional three-point play. Emily Otzelberger had seven points during the run, and Heuser had five. The Foresters would get as close as 47-34 with 8 minutes 3 seconds left to play, but would get no closer the rest of the game.

The Green Knights almost led from start to finish, with the game's only time coming at 9-9 midway through the first half. St. Norbert went on a 13-2 run over a five-minute stretch to take a 22-11 lead on an Otzelberger three-point play.

Otzelberger and Heuser each had 14 points for St. Norbert, while Rachel Hermus and Krista Pelky added 12 points apiece. The Green Knights shot 53.3 percent (24-for-45) for the game and outrebounded the Foresters 31-23.

Alex Messacar led the Foresters with 11 points off the bench. Lake Forest had 23 turnovers and shot 18-for-46 (39.1 percent) from the floor for the game.
