5,000-Meter Top Three Sweep Leads Way at Border Battle

SUPERIOR - St. Norbert College claimed the top three spots in the 5,000-meter run to lead performances for the Green Knights at the unscored UW-Superior Border Battle.

Seth Hawkins, Alex DeVillers and Benji Wetli finished 1-2-3, respectively, in the 5K. Hawkins won easily with a time of 16:16.22, while DeVillers was second in 16:31.76. Wetli's time was 16:40.65.

Ham Dowden won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.82. Dowden also ran the first leg of St. Norbert's winning 4x800-meter relay time, which included Ben Knapp, Jon O'Brien and Mackenzie Laska. The foursome ran a time of 8:25.08.

O'Brien and Laska finished second and third in the 3,000-meter run, respectively. O'Brien's time was 9:01.81, while Laska ran a time of 9:08.84. In the 1,000-meter run, John Barrett was second in 2:39.63 and Patrick Ziesmer was third in 2:45.70.

In field events, Paul Leeman was second in the high jump at 6 feet, 1 1/2 inches, and Jordan Gobert was third in the pole vault at 14 feet, 2 inches.
