DE PERE - St. Norbert College moved into first place in the Midwest Conference with a convincing 76-51 win over previous leader Ripon College at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights won their 10th-straight game to improve to 17-3 overall and 12-2 in the MWC. Ripon had its five-game winning streak snapped in falling to 15-5, 11-2.

St. Norbert wasted little time in taking control of the game, jumping out to a 7-0 lead on baskets by Emily Otzelberger and Denise Heuser, followed by a Heuser 3-pointer. Ripon would eventually pull to within two points at 15-13 with 8 minutes 31 seconds left in the half, but St. Norbert went on a 10-2 run over the next 8 minutes for a 25-15 lead. Staci Dieringer banked in a 3-pointer late in the first half to bring Ripon within 25-18 at the break.

Ripon trailed 28-20 with 17:39 left before St. Norbert went on an 8-0 run to lead 36-20. Heuser and Erin Baganz had conventional three-point plays to start the run, and Baganz finished it with a layup. Ripon cut it to 38-26 with 14:36 left, but St. Norbert answered on a free throw by Kristin Zimmerman and two baskets by Krista Pelky, and the Green Knights would never lead by less than 13 points the rest of the way.

St. Norbert's defense, which has not allowed an opponent to score more than 53 points in any game during its winning streak, forced Ripon into 27 turnovers and 39.1 percent (18-for-46) shooting from the floor.

The Green Knights were led by a career-high 24 points from Heuser, and a career-high 18 points from Baganz. Rachel Hermus added 11 points for St. Norbert, which was 23-for-55 (41.8 percent) from the floor and 25-for-32 (78.1 percent) at the free-throw line.

Jessica DeHamer paced Ripon with 17 points, while Carissa Zuercher added 13.
