Green Knights Clinch MWC Title Share With Win Over Lawrence

DE PERE - St. Norbert College claimed a share of its ninth Midwest Conference women's basketball championship with a 68-34 win over Lawrence University at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights improved to 18-3 overall and 13-2 in the MWC, and after Beloit's 59-54 win over Ripon the Green Knights can finish in no worse than a tie for the league title - St. Norbert's first since 2008. Lawrence fell to 2-18, 0-14.

St. Norbert led 14-2 and never trailed in the game. The Vikigns would cut the deficit to 17-10 with 8:38 left in the first half, but St. Norbert would hold the Vikings scoreless seven minutes before taking a 27-14 lead at halftime.

St. Norbert would lead by as much as 49-21 with 11:04 remaining and eventually led in the second half by as much as 36 points.

Denise Heuser led St. Norbert with 14 points, while Jamie Kuhl added 12 points. The Green Knights shot 38.2 percent (26-for-68) from the floor and outrebounded the Vikings 49-33.

Lawrence shot 23.4 percent (11-for-47) from the floor, and was led by Annie Kaiser's eight points, all of which came at the free-throw line.
