Green Knights Blank UW-River Falls in Regular-Season Finale

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College finished the 2009-10 regular season in style with a convincing 4-0 win over UW-River Falls in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights, ranked third in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, improved to 19-3-3 overall and finished 14-2-2 in the NCHA. The Falcons, ranked 14th, drop to 15-8-2, 9-7-2. St. Norbert has won its last 16 home games against River Falls, and is 14-0 all-time against the Falcons at the Cornerstone Community Center.

St. Norbert converted a 5-on-3 power-play opportunity at the 13 minute 18 seconds mark of the first period, when Tyler Allen poked home a loose puck for his team-high 12th goal of the season. St. Norbert made it 2-0 when the Green Knights had a strong rush, and Johan Ryd knocked home a rebound from a Noah Nemgar shot at 15:02.

Nick Tabisz pushed the lead to 3-0 when a long rebound off a Matt Boyd shot went to the far slot, and Tabisz found an open net at 5:56 of the second period. The Green Knights closed out the scoring at 18:16 of the third on Alain Joanette's wrister from the left slot.

Billy Szkodzinski received his first collegiate start in goal on Senior Night, making one save while playing on the game's first shift. B.J. O'Brien made 23 saves going the last 59:37. St. Norbert, which outshot River Falls 34-24, got two assists from Cody Keefer and was 1-for-3 on the power play.

Eric Babcook made 30 saves for the Falcons, who were 0-for-3 on the power play.
