WAUKESHA - St. Norbert College clinched the outright Midwest Conference championship and with it hosting duties for the MWC Tournament next weekend with a 76-61 win over Carroll University at Van Male Fieldhouse.

The Green Knights will host both the men's and women's tournaments, marking the first time in league history both will be held at the same site. St. Norbert improved to 20-3, marking the first time the Green Knights have won 20 games in three consecutive seasons.

St. Norbert will play Illinois College in one semifinal the evening of Feb. 26, with Ripon College and Lake Forest College playing in the other semifinal.

The Green Knights snapped an 18-18 tie on a Jamie Kuhl basket with 5:53 left in the first half, and Kuhl scored again 37 seconds later for a 22-18 lead. St. Norbert held the lead the rest of the half and led 36-30 at halftime.

Carroll's Karen Hoewisch canned a 3-pointer on the second half's first possession, but St. Norbert would answer with a basket by Emily Otzelberger and a 3-pointer by Denise Heuser to lead 41-33 with 18:04 left. St. Norbert's lead would fluctuate between five and 10 points until Kristin Zimmerman's layup with 6:20 to go put the Green Knights up 66-54, and Carroll would get no closer the rest of the way.

Five St. Norbert players scored between 10 and 13 points. Heuser led the Green Knights with 13 points. Otzelberger and Kuhl both posted double-doubles, with Otzelberger getting 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kuhl 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kuhl's rebound total is a career high. Zimmerman and Krista Pelky each scored 12 points for the Green Knights, who shot 51.6 percent (32-for-62) from the floor and held a 43-27 rebounding advantage.

Carroll shot 38.6 percent from the floor, making 22 of 57 shots. Lyndsey Seewald led the Pioneers with 17 points, while Janelle Groer added 15.
