Green Knights Place Second at MWC Indoor Meet

GALESBURG, Ill. - St. Norbert College registered a second-place team finish at the Midwest Conference Indoor Championships held at Knox College's T. Fleming Fieldhouse.

The Green Knights registered 115 points to finish behind Monmouth College's 177 points. St. Norbert finished ahead of third-place Carroll's 98 points.

St. Norbert had a pair of relays finish as conference champions. The 1,600-meter sprint medley of Kirk Fishel, Dann Schneider, Ryan Ascher and Ham Dowden won with a time of 3:37.74. The distance medley relay of Zac Weier, David Mason, Ben Knapp and Mackenzie Laska won with a time of 10:45.82.

Schneider finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.16 seconds, narrowly getting clipped by Carroll's L.J. Hyland who won in 50.11. John Barrett placed second in the 1-mile run, finishing with a time of 4:25.82. Jon O'Brien was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:57.84.

Dowden was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.64, and Aaron Roden was third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:37.47. Jordan Gobert finished third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.15 seconds. Schneider also claimed a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.61 meters.
