Green Knights Open Hilton Head Trip With Three Losses

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - St. Norbert College opened its annual spring trip to Hilton Head Island with three dual-meet losses. The Green Knights dropped an 8-1 decision to Wheaton (Mass.) College, lost 9-0 to Dickinson College and dropped a 5-4 heartbreaker to the University of Scranton.

Against Scranton, St. Norbert took two doubles matches to build an early lead. Nick Acosta and Mike Hyrczyk topped Scott Melideo and Joe Morra 8-6 at No. 1, while Derek Harrington and Matt Schmitz topped Michael Arrighi and Bennett Kelley 8-1 at No. 3.

Harrington topped Carl Caceres 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) at No. 1 singles, and Schmitz beat Kelley 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6.

In the Wheaton match, Eric Koppmann and Nate Tackaberry picked up the Green Knights' lone win with an 8-4 triumph over Gregory Poulin and James Little at No. 2 doubles.
