St. Norbert Places Second at Ripon College Invite

RIPON - St. Norbert College placed second at the Ripon College Sherman-Lukoski Invite at Ingalls Field to open the 2010 outdoor track and field season.

The Green Knights totaled 182 points to finish behind champion Ripon's 217 points. Division II Michigan Tech placed third with 175 points.

Jordan Gobert set a St. Norbert record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15 feet. Gobert placed second in the javelin throw with a heave of 152-4.

Dann Schneider claimed a title in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.11 seconds. Schneider was second in the 100-meter dash with a sprint of 11.29 seconds.

St. Norbert swept the top three spots in the 10,000-meter run. Aaron Roden took top honors with a run of 32:55.94. Jon O'Brien followed in second at 33:15.49 and Alex DeVillers was third in a time of 33:48.92.

Andrew Verfuerth was second in both the long jump and triple jump. Verfeurth had a distance of 19-2 1/2 in the long jump and had a result of 38-7 1/2 in the triple jump.

Tony Dionne was second in the discus throw with a distance of 132-5, and added a third-place showing in the shot put at 41-10 1/2. Jake Day was second in the pole vault at 12-0 3/4, while Seth Hawkins was third in the 5,000-meter run at 15:57.73.

St. Norbert's 4x100-meter relay team placed second with a time of 43.98 seconds.
