Green Knights Pick Up Pair of Dual Wins

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College returned to action with a pair of non-conference dual-meet wins. The Green Knights topped host Illinois College 8-1 and then defeated Monmouth College 6-3.

The Green Knights (8-14) picked up several dominated performances against the Blueboys. Nick Acosta beat Colin Ladd 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles. Nate Tackaberry beat Brett Lurkins at No. 3 and Matt Schmitz topped Mitchell Davidson at No. 5 both by 6-1, 6-1 scored. Matt Lobeck beat Toru Kobachi 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4.

In doubles action, Tackaberry and Eric Koppmann beat Kobachi and Davidson by an 8-2 score at the No. 2 flight.

St. Norbert swept the doubles matches and then split the six singles matches to pick up the win against Monmouth.

Acosta and Derek Harrington beat Chris Utterback and Tyler Lampe at No. 1 by an 8-3 score. The Koppmann-Tackaberry duo beat Ben Morrow and Gabe Cheng 8-5 at No. 2, while Lobeck and Schmitz beat Matt Smith and Brian Miller 8-4 at No. 3.

Lobeck topped Cheng 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, followed by Schmitz's 6-4, 6-0 win over Miller at No. 5. Acosta beat Tim Messenger 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.
