St. Norbert Defense Leads Way

BELOIT - St. Norbert College continued its stifling defense with a 70-40 road win over Beloit College in a Midwest Conference women's basketball game at Flood Arena.
The Green Knights haven't yielded more than 50 points in a game during their current six-game winning streak, and have allowed just 105 points in their last three games combined. St. Norbert is now 17-4 and 13-1 in the Midwest Conference, and holds a one-game lead in the league with two games left. Beloit fell to 12-9, 8-6.
St. Norbert led 29-21 at halftime and held a 37-30 advantage with 13:26 left before closing out the game on a 33-10 run. The Green Knights were up 60-40 with 4:16 left to play but didn't allow the Buccaneers to score again. The Green Knights held Beloit to 29.8 percent shooting in the game, and the Bucs were 5-for-22 from the floor in the second half and 1-for-17 beyond the three-point arc in the game.
St. Norbert made 39.3 percent of its shots but had just nine turnovers. Denise Heuser scored a game-high 20 points, canning six 3-pointers. Cortney Biese added 10 points for St. Norbert, which had 11 different players score.
Beloit was led by Christine Brown and Mary Parker, who each had 12 points.
