St. Norbert Drops Pair of 5-4 Heartbreakers to Elmhurst, Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College lost a pair of non-conference dual meets both by 5-4 scores to Elmhurst College and Lake Forest College. The Green Knights are now 11-17 on the year.

Against Elmhurst, St. Norbert was swept in doubles action but still almost came back to pull out the dual. Derek Harrington beat Dave Douglass 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Eric Koppmann topped Justin Guenther 6-2, 5-7, 10-1 at No. 3. Mike Hyrczyk beat Eric Moss at No. 5 7-5, 6-2, while Ethan Kadow defeated Henrique Boscolo 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6. Elmhurst's Daved Devaney beat Jordan Bauer at No. 2 singles 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 for the decisive team point.

St. Norbert took two doubles points against the Foresters for an early 2-1 lead. Harrington and Nate Tackaberry beat Jon Flaksman and Tommy White at No. 1 8-4. Hyrczyk and Kadow topped John Adams and Kevin Lasky 9-8 (10-3) at No. 3.

Kadow won at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Nick Cantor. Harrington beat Flaksman at No. 1 singles when Flaksman was forced to retire in the first set.
