Green Knights Clinch MWC Tournament Berth With Win Over Carroll

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College clinched a berth in the four-team Midwest Conference Team Championship with a 7-2 win over Carroll University at Western Racquet.

The Green Knights (12-17, 3-0 MWC) will face Lawrence University at Western Racquet at noon Sunday to determine the MWC's North Division champion.

St. Norbert picked up a pair of doubles points to take an early 2-1 lead. Derek Harrington and Nate Tackaberry beat John Silseth and Frankie Giuffre 8-5 at No. 2, while Jordan Bauer and Eric Koppmann topped Kevin Rasmussen and Shea O'Rorke 8-0 at No. 3.

Harrington topped Rasmussen 6-1, 6-0 to win at No. 1 singles, and Bauer followed at No. 2 with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Seth Pamperin. Koppmann beat Silseth by a 6-2, 6-1 score at No. 3, and Mike Hyrczyk beat Corey Vande Voort 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5. Matt Lobeck rounded out the singles wins with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Giuffre at No. 6.
