Records Tumble as Green Knights Sweep Marian

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College stayed on the winning side of the ledger with a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Marian University at Smith Fields. The Green Knight won the opener 9-4 and took the nightcap 2-1.

The Green Knights, who have 21 of their last 22 games, extending their winningest season ever to 26-6. Marian fell to 16-17.

St. Norbert broke open a 4-3 game in the opener with a five-run sixth inning. Tracy Palmer hit an RBI double in the inning, and Brieanne Oehlke followed with a three-run home run for a 9-3 advantage.

Oehlke finished the doubleheader with 30 RBIs on the season, breaking her old school record of 29 set in 2007. Palmer finished with three hits in the doubleheader, giving her 43 on the season. Palmer's total matches Carrie Flood's school record of 43 hits in 2001.

Oehlke finished the game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Palmer and Alyssa McGray each had two hits.

Kayla Krueger worked the first six innings to improve to 12-1 on the season. Krueger scattered seven hits, allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out two.

St. Norbert scored twice in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead and made those runs hold up. Krueger's RBI double with two outs scored Stephanie Ortiz, and Krueger came around to score on an error on the same play.

The Green Knights had nine hits in the game, but no player had a multi-hit game. Jessica Kropp worked the first five innings to get the win, allowing five hits with one walk and one strikeout. Kari Corbeille came on for the save, allowing one hit with one strikeout in two innings.
