DE PERE - St. Norbert College women's softball player Brieanne Oehlke has been named first team College Division Academic All-District V as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ESPN The Magazine.

Oehlke, a Fremont native and a graduate of Weyauwega-Fremont High School, holds a 3.80 grade point average with a major in biology. The senior catcher is currently hitting .333 with four home runs and a school-record 33 RBIs. Oehlke is St. Norbert's career home run (23) and RBI leader (113). She was the Co-Midwest Conference Player of the Year as a junior in 2009. The Green Knights enter the Midwest Conference Tournament with a 27-6 overall record and went 13-0 in the MWC North Division.

Oehlke is a three-time Academic All-Midwest Conference selection and a Dean's List student. Oehlke will attend dental school at Marquette University in Fall 2010. Oehlke is the chair of the St. Norbert Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and is also the chair of the Midwest Conference SAAC.

The College Division District V consists of NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA schools in Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. As a first-team all-district selection, Oehlke moves on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

To be eligible for national or regional selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. The Academic All-America team is selected after All-District teams are picked from eight geographic regions nationally. This year's Academic All-America team will be announced May 26.
