DE PERE - St. Norbert College women's ice hockey coach Rob Morgan has announced the roster for the sport's inaugural season set to begin in October.

The 24-person roster is a diverse one, featuring skaters from five different countries - including 10 different states and two Canadian provinces. Fifteen members are from the United States, six are from Canada and there is one each from Sweden, Finland and Denmark.

The entire roster will be comprised entirely of freshmen, with no transfers.

"There are six players among our forwards who participated in USA Hockey's National Development Program and one who played in the Women's World Division II Hockey Championships," Morgan said. "Lauren Straus, Zoe Kurth and Henriette Ostergaard are very strong centers who bring speed, sense and goal scoring.

"On the back end we have mobile skaters with very good skill sets. Lotta Haarala played in the 2008 Women's U-18 World Championships and helped guide Warner School to the Junior Women's Hockey League championship. Emma Agen Bjalvegard was among Sweden's pre-Olympic camp list and also captained her team to a championship season.

"In net, our three goalies will challenge each other throughout the year. Kaley Gibson and Mandy Montgomery have been involved with USA Hockey's National Development Program and Katie Aluia finished among the top five in goals against average of the Tier I Elite Women's Hockey League."

St. Norbert will open its season on Friday, October 29 with a 6 p.m. game against Bethel University at the Resch Olympic Pavilion in the Cornerstone Community Center.
