Coghlin Wins 400th Game as Green Knights Surge Into NCHA Lead

MENOMONIE - St. Norbert College men's hockey coach Tim Coghlin won his 400th career game as the Green Knights posted a 4-1 win over UW-Stout in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

It was an important win for the Green Knights, who moved into first place in the NCHA with the win and UW-River Falls' 3-2 loss to St. Scholastica. The Green Knights are now 10-4-4 overall and 7-3-1 in the NCHA. Stout dropped to 7-10-1, 3-7-1.

Coghlin became the 37th coach in all divisions of NCAA men's hockey to reach 400 wins. He is the 12th coach to reach that mark at the Division III level, and only the fourth to do it while coaching in Division III's West Region.

The Green Knights rallied from a 1-0 deficit after one period. Stout's Micky Knox scored at the 4:25 mark of the first period to give the Blue Devils the early lead.

St. Norbert answered with a pair of Johan Ryd goals in the second period. Ryd scored at 12:15, and then scored a power-play marker at 17:26 to give him 11 on the season.

The Green Knights put the game away with two goals in the third period. Reid Campbell scored unassisted at 9:33, and Sam Higgins netted a power-play goal at 17:21.

St. Norbert outshot Stout 31-15. David Jacobson made 14 saves for the Green Knights, while Tom Lescovich made 27 stops for the Blue Devils. St. Norbert was 2-for-6 on the power play, while Stout was 0-for-6.
