Scherer Wins Carthage College Invitational
SOMERS - Jenny Scherer won her second race of the 2009 season to lead St. Norbert College to a third-place finish at the Carthage College Invitational held at the UW-Parkside Cross Country Course.
Scherer cruised the 6,000-meter course in a time of 22 minutes 38 seconds to win the race by 3/4 of a minute. St. Norbert finished with 75 points to place third. Wheaton College won the meet with 34 points, while Carthage was second with 56.
Amanda Whipple placed third with a run of 23:35. Kim Keil placed 21st with a time of 24:54, while Briann Skrzypcak was 36th with a time of 25:42.
Kali Reierson rounded out St. Norbert's top five with a 38th-place finish in a time of 25:45. Erika Quinn was 54th with a time of 26:39 and Melissa Menne was 62nd with a run of 26:59 to complete the Green Knights' placements.
