Russ Schmelzer is in his 29th year as the head certified athletic trainer for all of St. Norbert College's 20 sports.
Schmelzer is the primary trainer for the hockey, softball and men's and women's soccer programs in addition to coordinating all medical needs of St. Norbert athletes.
Schmelzer is a former St. Norbert basketball player and a native of Park Ridge, Ill. He attended UW-Milwaukee before transferring to St. Norbert for his final two years. Schmelzer graduated in 1981 with a personal major in athletic training.
Schmelzer and his wife, Molly, and daughter, Ella, live in Green Bay.
