Alumni Profile: Christine (Metz) Battist


SNC was the perfect environment for Christine to get her footing after growing up in a small, rural community of Wisconsin.  Christine is a 1991 graduate and majored in Accounting.   The opportunities to try new activities in a “safe” environment set the foundation for future career exploration that took Christine to Dallas, TX for twelve years. 

While in Dallas, she spent 10 years in PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP assurance practice and served audit clients in the manufacturing, retail and service industries.    The self-confidence that she developed while in college through various activities and clubs made the move to Dallas a natural step in Christine’s professional career. 

While at SNC, Christine was appointed as a Student Advisor to the Alumni Council.   This was meaningful because it demonstrated to Christine that there were alumni volunteering their time and talents because they valued their college experience and education.   Christine also saw the value of networking while on the Alumni Council and it was through networking that Christine was able to make the move back to the Midwest in May 2005 with The Mosaic Company.   

Additionally, the nurturing environment at SNC has made a lasting impression on Christine.  “Inspiring people to do their best work is very rewarding and I’ve been fortunate to have had many mentor/mentee relationships over the years.” Whether it is coaching “at risk” high school dropouts or professional colleagues  through formalized mentorship programs or being a positive role model for her own children, Christine is proud of her ability to see the potential in others and help nurture that talent to fruition.

Christine’s professional career has focused on audit and accounting matters related to publicly traded companies.   Her recent focus has been corporate governance since the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in 2002.

Christine lives in Maple Gove, MN with her husband, Robb and two sons, Alexander and Harrison.
