Alumni Profile: Nicole Bowman Farrell
Nicole R. Bowman-Farrell, 1993 (B.A. Early Childhood & Elementary Education) is owner of Bowman Performance Consulting, LLC ( www.nbowmanconsulting.com), a research and evaluation consulting firm in Shawano, WI. Nicole's expertise in social science research and indigenous evaluation methodologies has earned her international recognition and publication as a young leader in the emerging field of cultural and contextual research and evaluation studies. The scientific, educational, and economic communities/sectors have embraced Nicole’s work in this emerging field where she continues to lead studies and provide technical assistance. Nicole began her Ph.D. at the University of WI-Madison on Fellowship and will be completing her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2006.
A descendent of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians, Nicole is an active member of numerous state and national boards and committees, including that of several higher educational institutions, non-profit agency boards, and the Wisconsin State Governor-appointed WI Women's Council and the Interagency Collaborative Council. Nicole has published in numerous academic journals regarding the topic of research and evaluation policies as they impact and American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) students. Nicole recently was featured as a keynote speaker who presented a nationally commissioned paper the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Center where she spoke about education research and evaluation policy's historical impact on AI/AN communities.
In addition, Nicole has been nationally recognized by numerous agencies including the US Department of Commerce as the Young Entrepreneur of the Year, which is a first for a Wisconsinite and an American Indian in the history of this award. Nicole's firm, Bowman Performance Consulting LLC also holds numerous state, federally, and Tribal certifications including: federally certified 8(a) business, federally certified scientific evaluator, and a state supplemental educational service provider for No Child Left Behind.
