Alumni Profile: Tammy Evers
Tammy Evers received a psychology degree with a business administration minor from St. Norbert College in 2002. Following graduation she was employed as a sales representative for International Paper and worked for the Specialty Packaging Division in Kaukauna, WI. After nearly two years in the corporate setting, she was ready for a major career change.
After spending two months at the ICA Language School in Guatemala, she enrolled in Marquette University’s accelerated nursing program and earned her degree in 2005. She began her nursing career at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI and completed a one-year cardiac/critical care nurse residency. In her role, she cares for patients on the cardiac/telemetry unit and cardiac/intermediate care unit. She is ACLS certified and her role includes charge nurse and preceptor opportunities.
She also attends the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she is pursing a M.S. in Nursing – Adult Health Nurse Practitioner. Clinical preceptorship placements have been in both Family Practice and Internal Medicine clinics in rural and suburban settings. She will graduate in May 2008 and hopes to find work in preventive cardiology or a primary care setting.
As St. Norbert College partners with Bellin to offer a BSN in Nursing, she is thrilled that students will have the chance to earn a nursing degree while enjoying life as a SNC student. Nursing is a fantastic, evolving career that is challenging, rewarding, and offers varied opportunities beyond traditional roles. Her hometown is near De Pere, WI and she welcomes the opportunity to meet with prospective or current nursing students.
