Alumni Profile: Nina Nolan
The career journey of Nina Nolan, class of 2007, began her Junior year at St. Norbert College when she took a web design/photography internship in the Office of Communications at the college. Through this internship she was exposed to many different facets of the communications industry - internal and external communication production processes, media relations, web and print design and perhaps more importantly, it was a great exercise in real-world professionalism for Nina.
During the two years that she interned in the Office of Communications, she gained an understanding of web content development, e-communication production and also further developed her photographic and writing skills. These skills and her experience served her well in her job search. Nina was hired on permanently in the Office of Communications as Communications Specialist shortly after graduating in 2007.
As Communications Specialist, she is part of a 7-person team responsible for telling the St. Norbert College story to prospective students, current students, parents, alumni and friends of the college. Nina is primarily responsible for general oversight and maintenance of the St. Norbert College web site including content development and site architecture. In addition, she is responsible for producing and issuing all e-communications that go out from the college including the monthly @St. Norbert e-newsletter and the online version of the St. Norbert College Magazine.
Nina's other duties include coordinating the 5-week Knights on the Fox summer concert series at St. Norbert and the De Pere Community Night event. Two outreach events that invite the De Pere and surrounding communities onto campus to experience Norbertine hospitality in action.
Nina's career in the Office of Communications has taken her overseas to photograph the 2009 Norbertine Heritage tour which wound through the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic. And, through St. Norbert, she is involved with the Fox River Ad Federation.
As technologies grow, social networks flourish and means of communication diversify Nina looks very forward to the future of a career in communications.
