Alumni Profile: Mary Vertacic

 Mary is a seasoned communications professional who has extensive experience in communication strategy and planning, message development, publication design and production, and electronic communication. In her role as strategic communication director for American Family Insurance, it's her job to build understanding and acceptance of her organization's actions and objectives among people inside and outside the company. Before joining American Family in 1991, Mary spent more than six years working in marketing communications for a software developer and two manufacturing companies.
    
A member of the St. Norbert College Class of 1985, Mary majored in communications, media, and theatre.  She earned a certificate in management from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2004, and has completed coursework in an MBA program.
    
Mary is an active member of the St. Norbert College Alumni Board, currently serving as vice president. She is also an active member of Sacred Heats of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Sun Prairie, Wis., where she is a volunteer catechist, mission trip chaperone, lector, and member of the finance council.
