MIRT is an opportunity for teacher candidates to gain confidence with interviewing and network with school administrators. Participating school administrators conduct three 30-minute mock interviews with teacher education candidates. During the last 10 minutes of these sessions students are provided feedback on their interview skills and the opportunity to ask administrators questions.

MIRT provides a valuable experience for seniors teacher education candidates, but also the opportunity for administrators to meet the newest members of the professional teaching community. In addition to the three candidates assigned to them, administrators are given access to the online resumes of all candidates prior to the event.
