Christmas break is quickly approaching and you may be planning or looking forward to all sorts of fun winter activities. Some of you may even be looking forward to some simple down time after exams when you don't have to think about school. With all the time that you will soon have available, you may be thinking about getting a job to make a little extra money over Christmas break. Many places take on extra employees during the holidays to make up for the increase in customers and demand for services. These places expect to take on many students due to their Christmas break and can be flexible with start and end dates. Listed below are a few ideas of where to start looking, but don’t stop there. Get creative in looking for ways to make extra money over break!

Career Tip of the Month: Start Looking for Christmas Break Jobs NOW! Don’t wait too long to start finding a job for Christmas break. You will want to start now, in the beginning of November, because this is when employers are looking for extra help for the holidays. Employers want to know by mid-November that they have all of their holiday shifts covered. You will also feel more confident going into Christmas break knowing that you will have extra cash in your pockets in case you need it! Financial Literacy Tip of the Month: Holiday Overspending Whenever we spend more than our income, we are overspending. For some of us, overspending can be almost unconscious—you buy that latte and new sweatshirt and then go out to dinner without adding up the costs in your head, much less on paper. We're not even aware of the hole we've dug ourselves into until it's too late. But in order to meet our financial goals, we need to live within our means.The holidays especially can be a time when people pull out their credit cards to make ends meet.
