Intern Profile: Caroline Alvarez
I interned at Congressman Kagen's Office because I felt that it would be great career experience as I am majoring in Political Science. Going to my internship allows me to get a glimpse into a career and allows me to build upon my communication skills. My internship responsibilities included taking phone calls, filing, typing up letters, and helping keep the office organized, where I was able to learn more about communication skills, organizational skills, and the workings of the political system. When taking phone calls, I learned how to deal with constituents and forwarding their concerns and comments to the Congressman as appropriate. I want to help people and influence our political system in order to help others. I feel that this internship allows me to achieve this goal and allows me to become better prepared and more experienced to enter the workforce. This was a great opportunity to learn about myself and my abilities and what I am doing well and what I can improve on.
Through my internship, I gained experience in communication and interpersonal skills and learned more about the political system. My internship has prepared me for my future and has helped me develop as a professional by being in a professional office setting.
